About Deb Grant

Deb is passionate about somatic movement and improvisational dance. She brings humor, warmth and joy into her passion for teaching.   

She is a graduate of the School for Body-Mind Centering® Somatic Movement Educator program and is a certified yoga instructor with advanced training in Chakra Yoga.  Deb has also studied yoga intensively with Body-Mind Centering℠ founder Bonnie Bainbridge Cohen, receiving an additional yoga teacher certification in BMC® Embodied Developmental Movement and Yoga.  Deb’s twenty years of experience and ongoing work as a psychotherapist, as well as her extensive and varied background in dance, theater, mindfulness, and bodywork, deeply informs her approach to helping others.

Deb is a Registered Somatic Movement Therapist (RSMT) and holds a masters degree in Social Work from the University of Wisconsin-Madison.   She is a professional member of the Body-Mind Centering® Association (BMCA) as well as the International Somatic Movement Educator and Therapist Association (ISMETA) and the United States Association for Body Psychotherapy (USABP).

Deb also teaches professional development workshops in New England about the integration of somatic work with psychotherapy. In 2015 Deb was honored to co-present workshops at Kripalu Center for Yoga and Health as well as at Omega Institute. Deb is a chapter co-author with Deb Dana, LCSW, in the recently-published book (June 2018) entitleClinical Applications of the Polyvagal Theory: The Emergence of Poly-vagal-informed Therapies (Editors Stephen Porges and Deb Dana)
